Next Thursday, 28th March, is the last day to visit Arquivo.pt Exhibition in FCT – Library, in Caparica.
The exhibition is open to the public all day long, from 9 am to 8 pm and shows six iconic pages from Portugal’s recent history such as the result of the 1996 Presidential Elections in Portugal, the Expo’98 page, or the first home page of the RTP television network, published in 1998.

Arquivo.pt Award 2019 was officially launched during an event at the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, in Lisbon, March 13th.
The President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), Manuel Heitor, and the vice-president of FCT, Helena Pereira attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Marcelo Rebelo highlighted the importance of initiatives like Arquivo.pt Awards, as well as the services offered by the portal.

Arquivo.pt is honoured to announce that the launching event of the Arquivo.pt Award 2019 will take place at the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, in Lisbon, on March 13th, at 3:30 pm.
The President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), Manuel Heitor, and the FCT vice-president, Helena Pereira will attend the ceremony.
The event is open to all interested parties but limited to the facility capacity.

Jornadas de Computação Científica is an annual event on scientific computing. In 2019 it will be take place between the 6 and 8 of May, at the University of the Azores in Ponta Delgada.
The event is aimed at teachers, students, researchers and service providers in Higher Education institutions.

Arquivo.pt has released a new version of its service on December 27, 2018, called Image Search Release.
This new version has as main novelty, a new functionality of image search in Arquivo.pt.
The Image Search is available at https://arquivo.pt/images.jsp?l=en.
At the moment it is a trial version, only available in the desktop version of Arquivo.pt.
The functionality allows not only to find images from the past preserved by Arquivo.pt but also to find the webpage from the past that contained the founded image.

CLEOPATRA Project is announcing 15 fully-funded PhD students. Subjects include Semantic Web, natural language processing, digital humanities and social sciences, and many others.
Arquivo.pt is directly involved in three of the courses: Incentives design for hybrid multilingual information processing and analytics, in Southampton; National and transnational media coverage of European parliamentary elections, 2004-2014, London (United Kingdom); and NLP for under-resourced languages, in Zagreb, Croatia.

The Arquivo.pt team held a training session at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar last October
Daniel Gomes, the manager of Arquivo.pt, and Fernando Melo and Daniel Bicho, from the development and technology team, presented the seminar “Arquivo.pt: pesquise páginas do passado!” (Arquivo.pt: search pages from the past!) to students of the Institute and other people interested in learning how to use the digital archives.

The three best works will receive a total of 15 000 euros.
Individual or group works on any subject are accepted. The only requirement is that they use Arquivo.pt as their main source of information.
