These four exhibitions presented iconic web pages from Portugal’s recent history.
Universidade do Minho – Gualtar Campus – Braga
- Where: Espaço B-Lounge of Universidade do Minho Library
- When: Until April 18. From Monday to Friday, from 8h30 to midnight. And Saturdays from 08h30 to 14h30.
Universidade do Minho – Azurém Campus – Guimarães
- Where: Espaço B-Lounge of Universidade do Minho Library
- When: From April 23 to May 10. From Monday to Friday, from 8h30 to midnight. And Saturdays from 08h30 to 14h30.
ISCTE – Lisboa
- Where: ISCTE-IUL Library.
- When: From April 16 until May 11. From 8h to 21h.
Escola Superior de Hotelaria do Estoril
- Where: Celestino Gomes Library
- When: Until May 15. From Monday to Friday, from 9h30 to 12h00 and from 14h30 to 17h30. And from 6 to May 18. From Monday to Friday, from 9h30 to 20h30, Saturdays from 9h30 to 13h.
NOVA – IMS – Campolide Campus
- Where: Nova IMS Library and Main Corridor.

Arquivo.pt Exhibition in FCT – Caparica

Next Thursday, 28th March, is the last day to visit Arquivo.pt Exhibition in FCT – Library, in Caparica.
The exhibition is open to the public all day long, from 9 am to 8 pm and shows six iconic pages from Portugal’s recent history such as the result of the 1996 Presidential Elections in Portugal, the Expo’98 page, or the first home page of the RTP television network, published in 1998.
FCT – Library is located at Caparica Campus. For further information call 212 94 78 29.

Arquivo.pt Awards 2019 launching event

Arquivo.pt Award 2019 was officially launched during an event at the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, in Lisbon, March 13th.
The President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), Manuel Heitor, and the vice-president of FCT, Helena Pereira attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Marcelo Rebelo highlighted the importance of initiatives like Arquivo.pt Awards, as well as the services offered by the portal.

President of the Portuguese Republic launches Arquivo.pt Award 2019

Arquivo.pt is honoured to announce that the launching event of the Arquivo.pt Award 2019 will take place at the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, in Lisbon, on March 13th, at 3:30 pm.
The President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), Manuel Heitor, and the FCT vice-president, Helena Pereira will attend the ceremony.
The event is open to all interested parties but limited to the facility capacity.

- 3:30 pm – Reception
- 4 pm – Opening (MPR)
- 4:05 pm – Speech by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor
- 4:15 pm – Presentation of the portal Arquivo.pt and the Arquivo.pt by Daniel Gomes, FCT
- 4:30 pm – Address by His Excellency the President of the Republic and inauguration of “Time travel with the Presidents of the Republic” exhibit.
- 4:45 pm – Cocktail and guided tours of the Museum and the Arquivo.pt exhibition
- 5:30 p.m. – Closing

Arquivo.pt in the Azores, May 2019

Jornadas de Computação Científica is an annual event on scientific computing. In 2019 it will be take place between the 6 and 8 of May, at the University of the Azores in Ponta Delgada.
The event is aimed at teachers, students, researchers and service providers in Higher Education institutions.

New version of Arquivo.pt (Image Search release)

Arquivo.pt has released a new version of its service on December 27, 2018, called Image Search Release.
This new version has as main novelty, a new functionality of image search in Arquivo.pt.
Image Search
The Image Search is available at https://arquivo.pt/images.jsp?l=en.
At the moment it is a trial version, only available in the desktop version of Arquivo.pt.
The functionality allows not only to find images from the past preserved by Arquivo.pt but also to find the webpage from the past that contained the founded image.
With the Image Search, it is possible to:
- visit the preserved page that contains the image
- see the image
- see details about the page and image preserved by Arquivo.pt
- share the image on social media.
Arquivo.pt has also developed an advanced image search page for those who want to do more complex searches.

The advanced search for images from Arquivo.pt is available at https://arquivo.pt/advancedImages.jsp?l=en.
Advanced image search allows you to:
- search for terms
- search for expressions
- exclude certain words
- limit search by dates
- select the size of the images
- select the file format of the images
- enable / disable safe search filter
- restrict the site where the image was found.

Arquivo.pt and CLEOPATRA Project together in funding for PhD students

CLEOPATRA Project is announcing 15 fully-funded PhD students. Subjects include Semantic Web, natural language processing, digital humanities and social sciences, and many others.
Arquivo.pt is directly involved in three of the courses: Incentives design for hybrid multilingual information processing and analytics, in Southampton; National and transnational media coverage of European parliamentary elections, 2004-2014, London (United Kingdom); and NLP for under-resourced languages, in Zagreb, Croatia.

The Arquivo.pt team held a training session at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar last October
Daniel Gomes, the manager of Arquivo.pt, and Fernando Melo and Daniel Bicho, from the development and technology team, presented the seminar “Arquivo.pt: pesquise páginas do passado!” (Arquivo.pt: search pages from the past!) to students of the Institute and other people interested in learning how to use the digital archives.

Submissions for Arquivo.pt Award 2019 are officially open! The deadline is May 3, at 1 pm (Lisbon time).
The three best works will receive a total of 15 000 euros.
Individual or group works on any subject are accepted. The only requirement is that they use Arquivo.pt as their main source of information.
