- What technical details does Arquivo.pt provide?
- Can I save a web page as an image?
- Can I print a web page?
- Can I complete the archived page if it is incomplete or unformatted?
- Can I see a page in full screen without the blue frame and the Arquivo.pt branding?
- Can I view a website with an old browser?
1. What is the version list and what is it for?
The version list shows in chronological order all the times a particular page has been saved. It consists of a vertical list that expands by year, day, month and time. It can also be viewed in tabular format under ‘Table’. It’s useful for having quick access to the history of any archived content.
2. What technical details does Arquivo.pt provide?
The technical details provide advanced metadata about each page or image made available. It displays metadata provided by the Arquivo.pt Application Programming Interface (API), namely: the title of the page, a link to a thumbnail of a page, a link to the original file, a link to all the metadata, etc. Useful for automatic information processing.
3. Can I save a web page as an image?
Yes. The ‘Save’ option generates an image of the entire page, from top to footer, in PNG format.
4. Can I print a web page?
Yes. The ‘Print’ option sends the image of the page to a printer of the user’s choice. We recommend that you check that the printout fits on the sheets of paper you have available.
5. Can I complete the archived page if it is incomplete or unformatted?
Yes. When you choose ‘Complete the page’, this service, which is external to Arquivo.pt, goes online to look for missing images or formatting code, for example. If they don’t already exist, it tries other web archives, such as the Internet Archive. If it finds them, it completes the page and saves the contents on Arquivo.pt so that the page can be better reproduced in the future.
6. Can I see a page in full screen without the blue frame and the Arquivo.pt branding?
Yes. When you choose the ‘Full screen’ option, the blue frame and the Arquivo.pt brand disappear. This is useful in some circumstances as an alternative to not having the Arquivo.pt frame. In the browser’s address bar, the address will now have the path ‘noFrame/replay’ instead of ‘wayback’.
7. Can I view a website with an old browser?
Yes. The ‘View with old browser’ option links to an external service from the OldWeb.today project. This is an emulator of old browsers. For example, it allows you to view a website from 1998 with the Netscape browser. Its activation depends very much on the availability of the service and can take some time.
