FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., through its FCCN Unit, hereinafter referred to as “FCT”, with headquarters at Av. D. Carlos I, No. 126, 1249-074 Lisbon, Portugal, and VAT number 503 904 040, is the entity responsible for the processing of personal data.
The personal data collected includes the email address, where provided, and the submitted content, which contains links to be extracted. These data are processed for the purpose of enabling the submission of content to the CitationSaver service, which extracts the cited links and promotes their preservation in Arquivo.pt, as well as, where applicable, sending information regarding the outcome of the preservation of the submitted content. The legal basis for this processing is the performance of pre-contractual or contractual steps taken at the request of the data subject.
Personal data shall be retained for the period necessary to pursue the purpose described above, including an embargo period of one year before the content becomes searchable on Arquivo.pt. Thereafter, the data shall be retained for an additional period of up to three years, after which it shall be deleted. During this period, electronic communication relating to the submission made may be sent.
Personal data shall not be used for purposes other than those referred to above without an appropriate legal basis.
FCT may disclose personal data to processors where strictly necessary for the pursuit of the purpose described above, ensuring compliance with the applicable legal obligations regarding the protection of personal data.
Personal data shall be processed using appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure their protection, particularly regarding the security of communications and access control.
Pursuant to the applicable legislation, the data subject may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability, and may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority — Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados — at www.cnpd.pt. For this purpose, the data subject should contact the Data Protection Officer at dpo@fct.pt.
